A working meeting was held between Irakli Lekvinadze, the Chairman of the Georgian Competition and Consumer Agency (GCCA), and Teresa Moreira, the Head of the United Nations Competition and Consumer Policy (UNCTAD), as part of the international conference.

The meeting focused on key priorities, including the development of the conference platform, strengthening the Georgian Competition and Consumer Agency’s (GCCA) engagement in working groups of international organizations, and enhancing the involvement of international experts in shaping competition and consumer protection legislation and enforcement practices.

The meeting highlighted the reforms implemented in Georgia in the field of competition and consumer protection, along with the significant results achieved over the Georgian Competition and Consumer Agency's (GCCA) 10 years of operation.

Teresa Moreira emphasized that while the GCCA is a young agency, it has demonstrated dynamic development, with its achievements deserving high praise. She also reaffirmed UNCTAD experts' readiness to assist in assessing existing challenges and providing tailored recommendations to support further progress.

Irakli Lekvinadze expressed gratitude to his colleagues who traveled to Georgia for their support and active participation in the conference. He also reaffirmed his commitment to contributing to the planned initiatives aimed at strengthening the Georgian Competition and Consumer Agency (GCCA).

The meeting was attended by GCCA Deputy Chairman Levan Kalandadze, Head of the Consumer Rights Protection Department Sergo Sanikidze, and representatives from UNCTAD’s Competition and Consumer Policy Division, Ana Cândida Muniz Cipriano and Akari Yamamoto-Bonenfant.
