The chairman of Georgian Competition and Consumer Agency Mr. Irakli Lekvinadze, the President of National Bank of Georgia Mr. Koba Gvenetadze, the chairman of National Energy and Water Supply Regulatory Commission of Georgia Mr. Davit Narmania, the chairman of State Insurance Supervision Service of Georgia Mr. Davit Onioprishvili and the representative of the Communications Commission Mr. Vakhtang Abashidze , signed the memorandum of understanding.
In order to effectively enforce the competition policy, strengthen cooperation, popularize the competition policy and make the public more aware of the implemented activities, the parties agreed to jointly organize the annual competition policy conference, where the cases, plans, results and challenges implemented by the authorities during the year will be discussed. Also, in relation to the field subordinated to each authority- analysis of the general competitive environment.
In 2020, according to the amendments to the Law of Georgia "On Competition", in order to separate the competence between the Georgian Consumer and Competition Agency and the regulatory authorities, a unified legal framework was created.
