The first international conference on competition and consumer rights will be held in Georgia. The event will discuss the activities of competition law, consumer rights protection mechanisms and regulatory agencies.
On November 16, the event will be opened by the Chairman of the National Competition Agency, Irakli Lekvinadze; President of the National Bank, Koba Gvenetadze; Chairman of the National Energy and Water Supply Regulatory Commission, Davit Narmania; Head of the State Insurance Supervision Service, Davit Onofrishvili and Chairman of the National Communications Commission, Kakha Bekauri.
Within the framework of the two-day event, parallel thematic sessions will be held on the following issues: competition policy and sustainable development; Competition policy in regulated markets/interagency cooperation; Legal guarantees for the protection of user rights and features of the enforcement process; Indirect enforcement mechanisms (competition policy advocacy, sectoral requirements and monitoring, recommendations, trade policy); Intrinsic power and refusal to supply, theory and practice (abuse of dominant position, theoretical approaches and practical cases, major trading partner); Practical experience of Georgia and Europe in the field of consumer rights protection, etc.
Protection of the principles of fair competition and consumer rights is the most important factor for the development of a sustainable and inclusive economy.
