
Giorgi Abashishvili
Founder & CEO of Business Insider Georgia & Economic Forum GeorgiaDr. Giorgi Abashishvili is the Founder & CEO of Business Insider Georgia and Economic Forum Georgia, a Professor at ALTE University, and the Founder of the Tbilisi School of Public Management.
From 2021 to 2023, Mr. Abashishvili served as the Dean of the Business School at ALTE University. During the same period, he was also the Dean of the Faculty of Business and Professor at Caucasus International University (CIU) and the CIU Institute of Business. In 2020–2021, he headed the Business Research House established by the Georgian Chamber of Commerce and Industry and simultaneously served as Chancellor and Professor at the Georgian Institute of Public Affairs (GIPA). In 2019–2020, he led the Business School of Ilia State University, and in 2012–2013, he directed the Center for Economic Research and Consulting at the Ilia State University School of Business.
Since 2019, he has been the National Consultant of the United Nations Department of Economic and Social Affairs (UN DESA) in Georgia. In 2014, Mr. Abashishvili was appointed Advisor to the President of Georgia on Economic Affairs, and from 2015 to 2018, he served as the Head of the Administration of the President of Georgia. In 2013, he was a member of the Dispute Resolution Board of the Ministry of Finance of Georgia. From 2005 to 2011, he chaired the NGO Republican Institute, managing more than twenty grant projects in civic, economic, and political education funded by the International Republican Institute, USAID, the Friedrich Ebert Foundation, VVD International, the Open Society Foundation – Georgia, the Friedrich Naumann Foundation, the Government of Poland, the Heinrich Böll Foundation, and the Open Society Institute.
Since 2018, Mr. Abashishvili has served as the Head of the Georgian Financial Education Association. He is a member of the Financial Education Strategy Management Committee of the National Bank of Georgia, a member of the OECD International Network for Financial Education, and a member of the Supervisory Board of the Georgian Export Development Association. He has also served on the Dual Education Coordinating Council of the Georgian Chamber of Commerce and Industry, the Managing Board of the “ReforMeter” project at the International School of Economics (ISET), the Advisory Board of the NATO-Georgia Professional Development Program (PDP), the Academic Council of the Georgian Institute of Public Affairs, and the Representative Council of Ilia State University.
Dr. Abashishvili holds a PhD in Business Administration and a Master’s degree in Economic Policy. Since 2006, he has been delivering lectures on business and economics and has authored numerous scientific and analytical articles published in both local and international journals.
