Mariam Gabunia

Head of the Foreign Trade Policy Department | Ministry of Economy and Sustainable Development of Georgia

She has widespread experience in foreign trade and economics. Ms. Gabunia has effectively contributed to the diversification and development of Georgia’s foreign trade – she was the coordinator of FTA negotiations with the EU (DCFTA), European Free Trade Association (EFTA), the People's Republic of China (PRC), Hong Kong, China, UK and UAE. Mariam Gabunia is actively involved in the process of Georgia’s integration with the EU and namely, she coordinates the implementation of the EU–Georgia Deep and Comprehensive Free Trade Area (DCFTA).

Prior to the position of the Head of Department for Foreign Trade Policy, Mariam Gabunia served at different positions at the Ministry of Economy and Sustainable Development of Georgia since 2004. Ms. Gabunia served as a Chief Adviser on Foreign Relations at the office of the Prime Minister of Georgia in 2009-2012.  Also, in 1998-2003 she served as a coordinator and contracting manager in the USAID Project to Develop Land Market in Georgia. Mariam Gabunia has the Master’s Degree in Public Administration.
