Vakhtang Abashidze, Member of ComCom, participated in the opening session of the Second International Conference on Competition and Consumer Rights
The Second International Conference on Competition and Consumer Rights is being held in Georgia, co-organized by the Communications Commission (ComCom), the National Competition Agency, the National Bank, the Georgian National Energy and Water Supply Regulatory Commission (GNERC), and the Insurance State Supervision Service. Vakhtang Abashidze, a Member of ComCom, along with the heads of peer regulatory authorities, participated in the opening session, which focused on achievements and challenges in competition and consumer rights. During his speech, he highlighted the projects implemented by the Communications Commission aimed at protecting consumer rights and developing media literacy. “Protecting consumer interests is a top priority for the Communications Commission. To this end, within the scope of its authority, the Commission implements significant projects, including those aimed at protecting the rights of minors as well as copyright and related rights, addressing these matters in strict compliance with the law. I must also emphasize the Commission’s efforts toward ensuring the delivery of high-quality services to consumers and fostering media literacy skills within society,” stated Vakhtang Abashidze. The ComCom Member also spoke about the importance of partnership within the framework of the joint platform of regulatory authorities, which provides for cooperation among regulatory agencies in accordance with Georgian legislation. He noted that coordinated collaboration among regulators in this direction is essential for promoting and improving competition in the country. As a reminder, the three-day event on competition and consumer rights is taking place in Georgia on November 16-18, dedicated to discussing competition law, consumer protection mechanisms, and the activities carried out by regulatory agencies.
