
Dr. István Hantosi
Deputy Head of Section, Public Service and International Section, Hungarian Competition AuthorityIstván is the Deputy Head of Public Service and International Relations Section at the Hungarian Competition Authority since February 2022. He is coordinating the international relations of the authority, representing the GVH at international organizations dealing with competition law regulation. He was also responsible for the management of the OECD-GVH Regional Competition Centre and worked actively in re-launching its in-person trainings of 16 competition authorities.
István graduated at the Faculty of Law on the Pázmány Péter Catholic University in Budapest 2008. During his university training he attended the Saint Ignatius Jesuit College for Advanced Studies, Budapest between 2003-2007.
He started his career at the National Media and Telecommunications Authority in 2009, where he gained extensive experience in media and telekom regulation and also worked in the field of consumer protection in the telekom sector.
István joined the team of the Hungarian Competition Authority in 2017, where he first worked in the Legal Section and then in several departments of the Authority, where he had the opportunity to prove himself in various positions. He was head of the Secretariat of the Competition Council for three years and provided competition law and procedural support to the Competition Council and coordinated its administration.
István published several articles both in competition law and media law and supported the publication of the Flash report on the activities of the Hungarian Competition Authority in 2020 and 2021 as responsible editor.
