Serge Sandt

Senior Legal Advisor at the Luxembourg Competition Authority

Serge Sandt currently serves as a Senior Legal Advisor at the Luxembourg Competition Authority, bringing a wealth of experience from both the legal and public sectors. His career began in 1993 as a member of the Luxembourg Bar, becoming an avocat à la Cour in 1995. He transitioned to public service in 1997, working as a cabinet attaché at the European Court of Auditors. By 2000, he had joined the Ministry of Small and Medium-Sized Businesses, Tourism, and Housing as a government attaché. In 2004, Serge was appointed District Commissioner in Grevenmacher, a role of significant local authority and leadership, which he held for several years. In 2009, he was appointed First Government Advisor to the Ministry of Home Affairs, further deepening his engagement in the management and oversight of the country’s public administration.  From 2012 to 2018, he was also Chairman of Syndicat des Eaux du Barrage d'Esch-sur-Sûre (SEBES), the Grand Duchy's main drinking water operator.

His expertise grew further as he became the legal advisor to the Presidency of the Competition Authority, where he focuses on market analysis and competition law enforcement. His expertise includes in-depth analysis of market dynamics and the enforcement of competition laws, providing critical insights to both public institutions and private corporations. Serge’s extensive legal experience and background in advising on regulatory matters have made him a well-regarded member of Luxembourg’s legal community, especially in competition law and public governance.
